"If I could solve all the problems myself, I would."
Thomas Edison, when asked why he had a team of
twenty-one assistants

Teamwork couldn't be more important in a workplace. I've had the chance to build and be part of some wonderful teams. For example, while at the American Red Cross I worked with some amazing people and built a nationwide team of trainers, and technology people. The talent they brought to the workplace was remarkable. While I'd hate to "pick a favorite" team I led, I'd have to say the Web Experience Team (WET) at CareerBuilder was a by far my favorite.
Throughout this website you will find samples of the work produced at CareerBuilder but the physical work can't beat the people and the relationships, which continue with these people today. It's unfortunate that the "CB" we knew doesn't exist anymore but the work we did and how we built a better product and company will be with us for a long time. The good news is the team we had was the best part of the job.

At one point I had a little team contest. The deal was whomever won, had a choice of:
- Some free time off
- Free car detailing
- I'd cook a 5 course lunch for them in the hall of corporate offices.
We had 3 winners and they all picked me to cook for them. While I would have bet they'd pick the time off, nope they wanted me to "serve" them. It was a thrill. I made a fancy menu, brought in the burners, the food, and even the official chef outfit. We all had a ball. Even the CEO stopped by to try and scam some food. The guys wouldn't have it! |
